Around twenty-five paintings to step into the suspended world of Victor Man

The Museo Novecento in Florence devotes a solo exhibition to Victor Man, the Romanian artist born in Cluj in 1974 and one of the leading names in contemporary painting. Curated by Sergio Risaliti, the show is installed in the ground-floor rooms of the Ex Leopoldine, in Piazza Santa Maria Novella.

The exhibition brings together around twenty-five paintings and returns to the themes that have run through the artist’s work for years: motherhood, the portrait and self-portrait, still life, the female figure.

Alongside works such as Lelkek temetoje, der Friedhof der Seelen (2019) and Maternity with Legend (2024), visitors will find the most recent paintings, including Maternity and Curve delle Anime (2025), Reclining Maiden – Prelude of Equinox and Transfiguration, Cassa Oscura (2025–2026). The selection is completed by five paintings from the series Luminary Petals on a Wet Black Bough, among them Untitled (After Michelangelo) from 2023.

The exhibition is promoted by the City of Florence and realised with the support of Galerie Max Hetzler and David Zwirner Gallery.
