Exhibition “PARIGI ERA VIVA” DE CHIRICO, SAVINIO AND LES ITALIENS DE PARIS (1928-1933)

Curated by Nicoletta Colombo and Giuliana Godio

From 21 October 2021 to 30 January 2022

Giorgio de Chirico, Alberto Savinio, Massimo Campigli, Filippo de Pisis, René Paresce, Gino Severini, Mario Tozzi are the artists who redesigned the fate of Italian painting in the twentieth century, in that golden five-year period from 1928 to 1933 and in which the French adventure of Les Italiens de Paris took place.

The exhibition returns the artistic, proactive, dialoguing and provocative climate of a unique and unrepeatable space-time crossroads: through about seventy works we find that Europeanist tension matured between the end of the twenties and the beginning of the thirties, a an era that saw Paris become the setting for a cosmopolitan and interactive, anti-traditional culture, in which to mature the confrontation with the avant-garde movements.
