Frédéric Bruly Bouabré and his Knowledge of the World at Dia Beacon
Dia Beacon, on the banks of the Hudson north of New York City, presents an exhibition devoted to Frédéric Bruly Bouabré (1923–2014), the Ivorian artist who set out to gather the knowledge of the world in thousands of small drawings. The exhibition is curated by Ella den Elzen.
At its heart is Connaissance du Monde (Knowledge of the World), the encyclopaedic series Bouabré began in the mid-1970s: postcard-size drawings in which image and text complete each other.
The drawings are Dia’s first acquisition of works by Bouabré and its second presentation of his work, after the joint exhibition with Alighiero e Boetti at Dia Center for the Arts in New York in 1994–95.
Frédéric Bruly Bouabré is one of the artists handled by Apart Art Advisory: his biography, works and exhibitions are on his page.
Full details on the official exhibition page.
